Part II: Google Earth Map

Part III: Preliminary Data + Inferences
Problems that Luxembourg faces are based on the size of the country, taxes, jobs, languages, trading, and the environment. Firstly Luxembourg is so small that on most maps the country isn’t even there. So most people don’t know the country exists. Secondly,Luxembourg is a really expensive country. Many people work for the EU (European Union) because there is a big EU office inLuxembourg. The people that work for the EU don’t have to pay taxes. That means taxes for the other people go up. Thirdly, Luxembourg has many jobs but too few people, and the people ofLuxembourg don’t want to do the jobs that aren’t very well paid. These jobs still need to be done, but no one wants to do them. Fourthly,Luxembourg has three official languages, Luxembourgish, German and French. This makes everything very confusing. At school students speak German, in the office people speak French, and at home they speak Luxembourgish. Fifthly,Luxembourg is not surrounded by the sea, so no things can be brought into the country by big ships. Only trucks can bring things for trading, and trucks can’t bring a lot and can’t go very fast. Lastly another problem thatLuxembourg faces is that the country doesn’t have a lot of natural resources like, oil, forests, farms, and so on. Most of their business is in banking.Luxembourg has to rely on other countries for all types of resources. This is a problem because if something happens to the countries that they rely on,Luxembourg would have to find things in other countries. Overall Luxembourg does not have major challenges compared to other countries.
Part IV: Reflection
What did you learn in the process of creating the Google Earth Map?
In the process of creating the Google Earth map I learned the basic HTML. Like, how to change the color, make something bold, how to skip a line, and etc. Now I know how to speak to computers! So in Google Earth you need to tell the computer what to do.
What did you find difficult in the process of creating the Google Earth map?
What I found difficult was when you had to write HTML, that was quite annoying you had to tell the computer to stop using bold, change the color, tell it to skip a line, and so on. It was also difficult to remember to tell the computer to skip a line because I just hit ENTER all the time and forgot to tell the computer what to do.
What did you find easy in the process of creating the Google Earth map?
What I found easy was pretty much just copy and pasting the information because the rest was just adding in the HTML. What I would like to know about creating Google Earth maps is if you can insert pictures, links, and if you can look really close into the country that you can actually see people.
One thing that was really annoying for me was that all my writing with HTML got deleted!Oh and after writing all that HTML! <b> </b> <br> <font color”#……….
Homework for Block D Monday 9 October)
http://ssmeetsit.edublogs.org/2006/10/09/homework-for-block-d-monday-9-october/
What did you learn and what did you find interesting or surprising about the presentations you heard in class?
What I learned, found interesting, and surprising in class was that czech republic doesn’t have an army! Let’s hope that the country never gets into a war! Another thing that I found surprising was that
Canada is really polluted and they owe 439.8 billion dollars!! I thought that Canada was a clean and peaceful place! Something else that I learned was that in Iran there are at least 2 million drug users! Lastly I found out that in Mexico 40% of the population is living under poverty! In the presentations of other students I learned a lot about other countries!
Wikispace Reflection
What did you learn while making this wiki?
I learned how to actually make wikispace pages. While I was creating the wikispace I learned how to put in pictures and mind maps into my page. Most of the things I arll ready knew how to do, like linking words ,making words bold, italic, and underlined. There wasn’t really anything that I learned about study skills while making the wiki because we had already learned study skills before making the wiki.
Did you enjoy making the wiki? Why or why not?
I definitely enjoyed making the wiki because I love creating things and it will be nice to see our work on the internet.
How can you use wikispaces for other classes?
I can use the wiki for other classes by making pages for all that we have learned. For an example, in math each page could be a different chapter. then in those pages we describe what the chapter was about and what we learned. Also we could use it for English class because if you are reading a book we could page different pages on each chapter, describing what happened. I think the wiki space will be very use full for other classes.
