Women taking care of their children

South Asia
What is the issue?
The issue is that Unicef (UN’s childrens agency) said that if women had equal rights, children would be healthier, and families would not be poor in South Asia.
Who is involved?
-
Families in South Asia
-
Unicef
Who is affected and how?
-
The people affected are the families in South Asia because they are struggling with poverty and their children (and themselves) are getting lack of nutrition. The mothers are not in control of how much money they can spend on food because it is the men who make the descisions on how the household money is used.
-
The future of these countries may be affected because the children are not healthy and are unable to learn to support their families and their countries developement. If there is no change these countries are likely to remain at its position.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved, I would go to all the countries of South Asia and meet with the leaders of the country and tell them that giving equal rights to women would reduce their poverty and the people of their country would have more nutrition. I would try to convince these countries to give women independence for it will help their country.
