United Nations World Issues Reflection

Q #1  Think about the presentations  and reflect on the projects your classmates presented and the information you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned, what you found interesting, surprising, or shocking about the presentations you heard in class.

First of all, I learned many things from each presentation, but individually, there was something either interesting , suprising, or shocking about the presentations I heard. I learned from the human rights presentation that in some countries women aren’t even allowed to drive! This was one suprising fact! From the Child Labour presentation I learned that families would just sell their children , so that they could work. No matter what age! This was very sad. Even if they tried to run away  the “bosses” would catch them and beat or rape them! They worked long and hard, but still some of them would get a bit of money, and some nothing…From the drug abuse presentation I learned that now there are more drugs that are made chemically than naturally from the plant. Also the presenters said that a young man living in the city would be more likely to take drugs than a hard working lady. I also learned what drugs do to you, it was quite interesting but still shocking and horrible. There was also a topic on Children’s Rights, there I learned that children in the streets would go to jail, even if innocent, there the conditions were UNDESCRIBABLE! In addition to the conditions of the actual jail, they would get beaten and forced to admit that they were guilty even though most of them were innocent. Also shockingly when the children were living on the streets people would give them drugs! As you read, you could tell that I was mostly shocked about the information presented.

Q#2  What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?

To improve my project I would have maybe asked for helpp on one problem that we had while making the project. The problem was that the clips would go automatically and sometimes too fast that you would not have enough time to read all of the text. We should have had that problem solved. To improve our presentation I think that we should have rehearsed more. Most of the time we were basically reading from our paper. Sometimes it would take a while to realize it was our turn or know which clip to say. Though we had our faults I didn’t think that our presentation/project was that bad.
